COVID-19 Dashboard

***This page will no longer be updated. The information below is from academic year 2021–22 and has been saved for archival purposes.***

Student and employee data are reported from September 13, 2021 through June 7, 2022.

Spring term ended on June 7, so dashboard updates concluded on June 7.

Kalamazoo College’s campus is open with all students and employees required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Kalamazoo College Student Health Center offers students diagnostic testing weekdays by appointment (call 269.337.7200 to schedule). Test results are returned within 24-48 hours. This dashboard is updated every weekday morning with the results of the COVID-19 diagnostic tests administered on campus and with self-reported student and employee data. Self-reporting is voluntary, so these data may not accurately reflect the entire College community’s COVID-19 status.

The College requested that all campus members take a COVID-19 test if available within 48 hours before arriving on campus in January and again after spring break in March. Forty-six students received a positive test result and isolated at home prior to returning to campus in January, so they are excluded from the dashboard data. The College is now following the revised CDC guidelines and Michigan state health guidance regarding shortened quarantine and isolation requirements as applicable.

Kalamazoo County COVID-19 Community Level: Medium

The CDC looks at the combination of three metrics — new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days — to determine the COVID-19 community level.

Dashboard Definitions

Active Cases: The total number of people in the College community with known active COVID-19 infection.

Campus Isolation/Quarantine: Number of students in on-campus space designated for residential students only with known active COVID-19 infection or who have been exposed to a known active case of COVID-19.

Positive Cases: A positive case is any student who received a positive test result from the COVID-19 diagnostic tests administered on campus or any student or employee who self-reported a positive test result from an independent testing facility.
